Airbrush 101

do more than basecoat

Are you afraid of your airbrush?

Are you looking to up your painting to the next level?

Get ready. In this course, I'm going to teach you all the things I wish I had known when I started airbrushing, including the skills I use for my customers every day.

It doesn't matter if you're a collector & hobbyist or a hyper-competitive player, you want to be proud of your miniatures.

Fun fact, 100% of tabletop players have unfinished armies! Break the cycle - paint your minis. Painting miniatures is more fun, fast, and satisfying with an airbrush (I promise).

painted minis play better

I’ve been painting for years, and airbrushing is something I’d dabbled with and abandoned, I felt more comfortable with a brush. I enrolled with the intention of learning quicker ways to basecoat but I left with a thorough understanding of multiple applications.

I honestly can’t even consider a paint scheme without reaching for the airbrush. It’s now a well-used tool in my kit, thanks to this course!

I was not a fantastic painter. When I started 1 year1 army painting studio in 2017 I had never used an airbrush before, and I was nervous about pulling the trigger *airbrush pun*. I've been airbrushing full time since then, and the exciting part is: the most improvement happened in a very short time, right at the beginning.

This course is for hobbyists who want up their airbrush game. You may be new to airbrushing or intimidated by it. Or maybe you've used an airbrush before but want to use it for more than just basecoats.

This course shows you exactly what I do from beginning to end when working on a miniature.

"I think [Friend]’s improvement in painting is a real testament to your class man.

Like it’s leaps and bounds."

- Adam, Anvil of War

"I've been painting on and off for 20 years and in all that time my abilities never went beyond basic paint and brush techniques. I originally contacted Ryan with the intent of commissioning my armies. His work was clean and perfectly matched the schemes in my head -- a standard I never dreamed of being able to match. After several successful commissions, Ryan told me about his airbrushing course. In a short time, my abilities went from basic "Battle ready" models to standards that I am finally happy with. Ryan's course introduced me not only to the fantastic world of airbrushing but also to a larger world of painting techniques and colour theory. My techniques are blended better my colour composition and schemes are tighter and more cohesive.

Not only has the course been informative and helpful but Ryan's (the nicest guy in the painting community) has been available for feedback and help. The knowledge and support I've received has been absolutely astounding. For anyone considering an airbrush or trying to improve their abilities, I cannot recommend this course enough."

"But Ryan, can't I just YouTube this?" - I hear this all the time.

While it's true that YouTube has some great videos, and Patreon has some amazing artists, neither is setup as a complete package like a course. Courses are meant to teach something specific, have a beginning, a middle and an end, and are the best form for teaching a skill.

"I was having issues with my airbrush, even though I went through a lot of tutorials on Youtube. I wouldn't even dare using my airbrush on anything except for priming.

I had an introduction to painting miniatures with Ryan a couple of years ago, it helped me get confident that I could paint my own minis, and enabled me to at least try. So when I thought about throwing the towel on my airbrush, I reached out to him.

With his help, I was able to do some good results on my very first airbrushed miniature. I was proud of the result and felt at ease with my airbrush. His course was a great help getting the information and reviewing it when needed.

I also learned that I needed a better-quality airbrush. Even though I was able to achieve great results with my current airbrush, I realized that some of my issues were due to not having a good tool. This helps a lot and I thank Ryan for that help!"
